Green Fire Near Mountain Home Village

The Green Fire began during the evening of July 27 near the Thurman Flats Picnic Area along Highway 38 in Mountain Home Village. Initially reported at 10 acres, the fire grew to approximately 33 acres that evening and reached 55 acres by July 28. An evacuation warning was issued for the surrounding area as firefighters worked to slow its spread.

Crews continued strengthening containment lines in steep and difficult terrain, using drones to locate remaining hot spots and helicopters to deliver water where firefighters could not safely reach on foot. The fire reached 55% containment on July 31, when all evacuation warnings were lifted.

As of the last recorded update on August 5, the Green Fire remained at 55 acres and 83% containment. Its cause was still under investigation.

We extend our appreciation to the firefighters, emergency personnel, and supporting agencies who responded. The incident serves as another important reminder to remain alert, keep evacuation plans current, and be prepared during wildfire season.
